| March 31, 2007, Singapore – Trade and industry professionals were given a glimpse into the future of high precision, value-added possibilities at MTA2007. This Precision Engineering Industry Event took place over four days from the 28th to the 31st of March at the Singapore Expo and gathered over 860 exhibiting companies from 33 countries.
Several leading industry machining solutions providers used MTA2007 as a platform to showcase exhibits that featured breakthrough, research-driven technologies.
Positive feedback echoed across the show floor from exhibitors at MTA2007 as many saw brisk business from local and overseas buyers.
First time exhibitor HwaCheon from Korea were visibly impressed with the outcome of the exhibition: “Our objective for being at MTA2007 is to make HwaCheon’s presence known in the market among our customers. The response has been overwhelming. We have more than 100 percent achieved our objectives by participating at this show,” Said Mr Klaus Ludwig, Managing Director, HwaCheon Asia Pacific.
Ichi Seiki sold 7 units of the YCM XV 560A. This machine is new
to Singapore. According to Jane Low, Ichi Seiki’s executive director, “The quality of local visitors this year is very good. There have been many local visitors who are our target customers. So I can say we are happy with our participation at MTA2007.”
Mr Yoshihiro Nakamura, Regional Manager for Mori Seiki, said, “We sold 8 units of our machines to both local and overseas visitors worth over 1.8 million Singapore dollars. We are satisfied with the outcome of the show and will definitely be back for 2009’s edition”.
Lionapex Equipment Pte Ltd, who sold an estimated $600,000 worth of machines, was also pleased with the positive turnout of quality customers.
Toshiyuki Nagasawa, Executive Officer, Miyano Machinery Inc. (Saeilo), Japan, sold a S$100,000 metal-cutting machine to a client in Malaysia, while Okaya sold sold three units of their US$130,000 compact carbide punch machine to a Hong Kong company.
The show also had positive reviews from industry visitors.
Mr Chung Chin Hwa, Director, Tri-Steel Precision Tools Malaysia said, “MTA2007 is a good event to meet up with suppliers, and to see new machines. This year I am planning to get tooling machines.”
Mr Ma Hai Feng, Project Engineer, Marshall Technology, Singapore, describes his experience at MTA2007: “I am at the show to get information on laser-cutting machines. We are very likely to purchase very soon. It was a fruitful trip and I will be back”.
Mr Sriyanto, Senior Manufacturing Engineer from Aker Kvaerner Indonesia, best sums up the experience at MTA2007: “It is my first trip to the exhibition and I found what I was looking for!”
Technology Showcase
The Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology, Nanyang Polytechnic and National University of Singapore also shared the spotlight with their research-driven displays at the MTA2007 Technology Showcase.
Associate Professor Seah Kar Heng from the department of mechanical engineering, National University of Singapore, said, “Our formula style race car is a showcase of what Mechanical Engineering students are capable of and more importantly, what Singapore is capable of. MTA has allowed us to realise this goal and has provided a wealth of exposure for our department and the school as a whole. I am definitely looking forward to the next edition of MTA.”
MTA will make its return from 25th to 28th March 2009 at the Singapore Expo.
