Metaltech malaysia 2008 & mta malaysia 2008 attract 24,000 visitors from 69 countries generates over rm720 million in sales

Kuala Lumpur ¨C MetalTech Malaysia 2008 and MTA Malaysia 2008, the country¡®s top two machinery exhibitions held recently at PWTC in Kuala Lumpur, not only drew a crowd of nearly 24,000 from 69 countries, but also generated a massive RM720 million in sales over five days.

A total of 1,500 companies from 33 countries, of which 60 per cent were foreign, had displayed the latest in metalworking machineries and equipment valued at more than RM350 million. Among the major international participants were ABB, EME, Gasparini, Hexagon, IME, Kuka, Leeport, Marposs, Mitutoyo, Nachi, NCT, Nikon, Sing Huat, Sumitomo, Hardmetal, Taegutec, Trumpf and Yamazen, to name a few. The national pavilions included Austria, China, Germany, India, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan.

The event was officiated by Tan Sri Dato¡¯ Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin, Minister of International Trade & Industry who also delivered the keynote address at the MIDA National Seminar on ¡°Business Opportunities in the Machinery and Equipment Industry in Malaysia¡±. Business matching sessions organised by MIDA between foreign-based companies and Malaysian companies for potential investment and business collaboration also proved to be fruitful and generated positive response.

Another major event held was a conference focussing on key developments in automation and provided insights into application of new technologies. Themed ¡°Pursuing the technological wave¡± the key conference speakers with global industry background came from Singapore, Taiwan and Germany, together with industry leaders from Malaysia.

Said Alun Jones, General Manager of Malaysian Exhibition Services which organised MTA Malaysia, ¡°The event has grown tremendously, especially since 2006 when both shows were held jointly to become the region¡¯s second largest event of its kind. The fact that several companies have committed to participate in MTA Malaysia 2009 is testimony to the business opportunities that this event is able to generate.

¡°Not only does it offer an excellent platform for those in the industry to update themselves on the latest technology, equipment and services, it also allows exhibitors and trade visitors to establish direct networking and explore opportunities for their business enhancement,¡± said Alun Jones.

Endorsed by the Malaysian External Trade Organization, both MetalTech Malaysia and MTA Malaysia are supported by MIDA, SIRIM, the Federation of Malaysian Foundry and Engineering Industries Association (FOMFEIA), the National Institute of Compressed Air Malaysia (NICAM), the Selangor and Federal Territory Machinery Merchants Association (SAFMA), the Singapore Manufacturers¡¯ Federation (SMA), the Singapore Precision Engineering and Tooling Association (SPETA), the Electrical & Electronics Association of Malaysia (TEEAM), the Malaysian Mould and Die Association (MMADA), the Machine Tool Club (MTC) and Malaysia¡¯s Hardware, Machinery & Building Materials Dealers¡¯ Association (MHMBA).

MetalTech Malaysia 2008 and MTA Malaysia 2008 are organised by Trade-Link Exhibition Services Sdn Bhd (TES) and Malaysian Exhibition Services Sdn Bhd (MES) respectively. Next year¡¯s event is scheduled from May 6-10, 2009.
